SGW named in the top 10 of Victoria’s must do’s

by . on 2 Nov 2008 Skandia Geelong Week has landed seventh spot in RACV’s top 101 tourism experiences. The results were announced on Channel 9 Melbourne during a Postcards special.

Skandia Geelong Week organisers are thrilled with the result and thank all those who voted for the event, 'We are ecstatic to be recognised in the top 10 and particularly proud to fly the flag for the sport of sailing' said Skandia Geelong Week Chairman, John Kint.

'Skandia Geelong Week is unique, not only is it Australia’s largest sailing event it is also an action packed festival with live entertainment, children’s activities, art & craft markets plus lots more and best of all it’s free' continued Mr Kint.

Over 76,000 people visited the site during the three month campaign with almost 600 experiences nominated. The RACV campaign was run in association with Tourism Victoria to find out what Victorian’s loved doing in their home state to recommend to visitors from interstate or overseas.

Victoria’s number one tourism experience was driving the Great Ocean Road; it was a clear favourite with over 22,000 votes registered. The Geelong region proved very popular with four entries in the top 10.

Skandia Geelong Week is not only a fantastic event, but it provides an ideal opportunity for visitors to explore the local region which includes the Great Ocean Road, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula.
